Existing policy to continue till approval; no timeline for implementation yet

Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday said that the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to examine the reservation policy has submitted its report, which is currently under consideration before the competent authority. Replying to a question in the Legislative Assembly tabled by MLA Budgam Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, the government, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “The Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for examining various aspects of reservation policy and rationalization of reservation in J&K has submitted its report, which is under consideration before the competent authority.” On the status of implementation, the government without specifying any timeline, said that the report has not yet been approved and its implementation will follow only after clearance from the competent authority. The government further said that at present, the existing reservation policy and relevant statutory provisions continue to remain in force. On interim measures to address concerns of stakeholders, the government said that no changes have been made so far and the current policy framework continues to be applicable—(KNO)
